Here is a funny story...I had to get a student id made so I am able to go on trips with Jake's class. We arrive in Nanjing and we pretty much go immediately to get my picture taken for the i.d. I had been awake since about 4:00am, plus my straightener broke the day I got here, so I had my hair up, and no make-up. Needless to say I wasn't looking my best. Well the lady who took my picture, thought I needed a little or a lot of help to make me more beautiful. She made my skin paler (the paler you are the more beautiful you are), and made my hair darker, and took away all of my wispy hairs, from having my hair up.

Thank you for helping me at least look a little more presentable on paper.

Our Apartment in Nanjing

Well this is our apartment...it is a 3 bedroom, but we only use 2 of the rooms b/c the third one is locked with the people's stuff who we are renting from. We got a new bedspread, and have taken off the lace things that are everywhere here. We do have washer, but they don't use dryers here, so in our bedroom there is this pretty high tech contraption where we hang our clothes. It has a handle to raise and lower the poles that we hang our clothes on. This kitchen has a refrigerator, gas burners, and a sanitizer(not a dishwasher, but a sanitizer). The beds are definitely different, it would be like sleeping on the box springs only. I'm getting used to it though. The funny thing is, this is bigger and nicer then our apartment in Columbus!

New York, the city that never sleeps...including us!

We had such a great time in NY, we saw three Broadway shows (Wicked-my favorite, The Little Mermaid, and Mary Poppins). We ate at Carnigie Deli (amazing), cupcakes at Magnolia bakery (tasty), and a ton of other great food and desserts. The wedding I went to was a ton of fun, and great to see old friends from high school. In the four full days that I was there we did the following: Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, Top of Rockefeller Center, Ground Zero Museum(one of the highlights), a bus tour, NBC store, Disney store, Toys R Us ferris wheel ride, Time Square, I'm sure there is more, but my mind is blank right now. I leave for China tomorrow, so get ready for some great pictures!
